We perform checks on reviews
Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published. When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site. Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines. Learn more about our review moderation.

Lamanai Ruins and New River Tour
Jan 2023
This was not as advertised. Do not book this tour. The guide went so fast through the archeological site that very fit teens could not keep up--not to mention the less agile adults! The guide offered very little value added. He did not provide historical information on the site or on any of the buildings. He just wanted to rush and stay ahead of the big tour groups. We learned nothing about the buildings we saw, except to note on one where excavation occurred. The river trip was a high speed boat ride. We paused once to see a small crocodile, but did not even pause for a large one. Wildlife? What wildlife? We were traveling so fast we could not see anything. When I asked to slow down so we could see things, the guide ignored me--and it was just our family of five. This is not a good tour. /if you want to learn about the Mayan ruins or see wildlife, choose another tour.

Belize City By Carriage
Sep 2022 • Friends
We were excited for "Belize City By Horse and Carriage" through the town. The carriage was a metal cart that we had to stop and pump up the tires on as we went along with a hand pump. That would have been ok. But the poor horse!! It was very hot and humid. The horse was thin and was panting terribly. He also did not appear to have been groomed. After a while, I finally asked the driver if he didn't think the horse could use a drink of water. His reply was "He works today and can rest tomorrow." This really ruined the tour for me as I have horses myself.
I would recommend taking a van or a bus or some other mode of transportation. The driver know a lot of facts.

Unsafe tender voyage to snorkeling Belize City
Mar 2020 • Couples
We took the snorkeling / all inclusive beach day at Belize City with Rhapsody of the Seas. When we boarded the tender I was a bit worried. Didn't see the usual coast guard required notices. Like where the life vests were located. The tender itself was a 2 story catamaran vessel. It looked very dilapidated. We got underway and shortly after passengers reported there was no toilet paper in the head. About 10 minutes into the trip one of the engines failed. For the remainder of the trip the vessel limped into our destination. When we arrived they told us they would send a different tender for our return. We were then rushed to grab equipment that clearly had not been sanitized ( Corona virus is a concern). We brought sanitizer so we we proceeded to clean the equipment we were using. We barely had time to remove our outer clothes and rinse the equipment before we figured out the snorkeling tour was getting underway. The your itself was nice as was the staff. The lunch served was meh. We were surprised that the decided they had repaired our tender and we could take it back to the ship. Well it ran for about 5 minutes and the engine failed again. 90 minutes later we limped to the ship. We missed the last chance to take a tender to Belize City for a quick shopping trip. We sign up for cruise sponsored excursions primarily for convenience and safety. RC's cavalier attitude towards safety of their passengers is shocking.

Misleading Ads foe this Excursion
Mar 2020
this was part 2 of an excursion we took from MSC Meraviglia. It was the second half of a very long excursion. They advertised once at the zoo, you would see all these different types of animals & could hold & interact with some monkeys and birds. We were also suppose to see toucans, which we never did. Never got to interact with any monkeys or birds either, that was not even mentioned by tour guide. Would not recommend the Howler Monkey Sanctuary & Belize Zoo Tour. Over priced and too long.

Spectacular Snorkel at Rendezvous Caye with Lunch - via Carnival
Feb 2020
My wife and I went last Tuesday, 2/18/2020 with my elderly father. We found the description to be pretty accurate we just don't think it was worth the money. Belize is a tender port so they will pick you up directly at the ship. Think small ferry. It's about an hour boat ride to the island. There's no entertainment on the boat, not even music though once you get close they will talk about Belize for 15 minutes. They tell you to sit down. There are no drinks, etc. This is true coming back and that's half the excursion. Once on the island they break you down into groups based on experience and # of people. That was all fine and pretty typical. Then you walk into the water and snorkel around. Once done you get food, which honestly was more than we thought from reading earlier reviews though would never be confused with abundant. Then you have maybe 30 minutes before it's time to line up and leave. You see, after dropping you off the ferry does a round-trip to pick up the next set of guests. When they arrive you leave ;) The snorkeling wasn't great the day we went but there was enough reef for it to have potential. Still, you're probably better off booking an excursion that takes you to a reef to snorkel and then takes you on a beach drop.
